
Ms. Vera Baboun,
Ms. Baboun was elected the mayor of Bethlehem in November, 2013 to be the first elected mayor to the municipality of Bethlehem since its establishment. Ms. Baboun occupy the position of General secretary in the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities, the vice president of the International Coordination of the Local Authorities of the Mediterranean (CIELM), and a member of the Joint Council for the Arab and south American relations. She holds a master's degree in the American ethnic literature, and is a candidate for a doctorate in the same specialty . Ms. Vera Baboun is a researcher in the network of (GRACE) for gender research for women's empowerment in the Middle East through the use of information technology. She has submitted several papers on issues of gender equality in a large number of civil and social organizations both local and international . Prior to her election, she worked as a lecturer at Bethlehem University - Faculty of English Language and Literature, and she was the Dean of Student Affairs at the university for several years. Ms. Baboun chairs the board of guidance and training center for child and family (GTC) in Bethlehem, in addition to being a member of a number of non - profit national associations.
