About Chivasso
Chivasso is a city in the Metropolitan area of Turin, located about 20 kilometes northeast of the city of Turin. In 2017, the population of the city was about 27,000.
The city, which is the place of birth of great painters such as Defendente Ferrari (1500) and Demetrio Cosola (1800), has ancient origins and was known for the heroic battle against the French troops during the siege in 1705.
Its historical center is characterized by Medieval arcades, such as the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption (founded 1400) with its precious late gothic brickwork façade, and the Octagonal Tower, which is the last remainder of the mighty castle raised by Marquises of Monferrato in XII century.
About the twinning agreement
A twinning agreement was signed in June 2016 by the then Mayor of Bethlehem, Ms. Vera Baboun, and the then Mayor of Chivasso, Mr. Libero Ciuffreda. The goal of this agreement was to enhance a relationship, which had existed between the two cities even before this date, and to further widen it to reach all the sectors of life in the two cities through the implementation of practical cooperation projects.
